Do you fancy taking part in a body-popping world record attempt?
To raise funds for Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, we want to help them break the world record for the largest ever robot dance.
The event is in support of the first multi-specialty robotic surgical suite in the UK, based at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
Using the remote-controlled robot means surgeons can work more precisely and with more manoeuvrability than traditional surgery methods. Surgeons have 3D views and can easily get to hard-to-reach areas in the body, leaving minimal scarring and pain for the patient.
Paul Morgan is head of fundraising for Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust:
“The idea behind the dance is to increase awareness of the robot and create a bit of fun around it. The aim is to get 3,000 people together on one site, and to do the robot dance for five minutes.”
Cheerleaders from the University of Portsmouth will be leading the dance.
“This is a really fun and great way to be part of a world record attempt, to make a difference to our hospital, and the services we provide to patients,” added Paul.
The current world record stands at 2,524 people and is held by the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
The event takes place on Friday 22nd November from 3pm to 4.30pm at the Burnaby Road Sports Ground in Portsmouth. Anyone can join in, young or old – all you need is a sense of humour and a flat pair of shoes!
Design and marketing support for the event is provided by NHS Creative.
We look forward to seeing you there!
